Alexandra Maria Lara (born in Romania) is the Romanian actress and television presenter. Her most well-known work is the star of Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control as well as Rush. Since she was the sole child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu. Alexandra began her career in showbiz as a child. She was a lead actress in dramas on television as young as 16 years old. Her critically acclaimed performance in the made-for-television film Der Tunnel paved way for other notable roles including that of the secretary of Adolf Hitler Traudl Junge, in the commercially and critically popular Oscar nominated war-time drama film Downfall. Additional Oscar nominated movies featuring the actress include The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra is engaged in numerous noteworthy projects, both in the United States and internationally. They include the British biographical film Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French historic miniseries Napoleon among others. She has also been an official juror for the Transylvania International Film Festival as well as the Cannes Film Festival.
